Mara Intrepids Tented Camp is on the Talek River in the Masai Mara National Reserve, near the Ol Kiombo airstrip. Listings give about 30 tents on raised platforms facing the river, grouped in clusters for a more secluded stay. Each tent has a wooden four-poster bed under a net and an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, and tea and coffee facilities. Family tents and triple-bed suites are available.
The camp has a restaurant with several small riverfront dining areas, a bar, a swimming pool, a library with board games and a playground for children. Rates typically include three game drives a day and return airstrip transfers, and hot-air balloon flights can be arranged. The Talek can flood in heavy rains, so check conditions when you book.
