Nanyuki, Mount Kenya region, Kenya · Tazama kwenye ramani
Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club sits on roughly 100 to 120 acres of gardens and forest near Nanyuki, with Mount Kenya rising behind it. The actor William Holden bought the property in the early 1960s and ran it as the Mount Kenya Game Ranch, and over the years it has hosted guests such as Winston Churchill and Bing Crosby. Fairmont now manages it.
Accommodation ranges from suites and cottages to private villas, with fireplaces and garden or mountain views (sources give between 100 and 120 rooms in total). Activities include horseback safaris, guided forest walks, a 9-hole par-3 golf course and rose gardens, and visitors can see the animal orphanage run by the William Holden Wildlife Foundation, which is known for its work with endangered species such as the mountain bongo. It suits couples and families who want a calm, scenic stay before or after a safari in Laikipia or Mount Kenya.
